Thanks to you, our readers and authors, 2016 was the biggest year yet for Brain Lag. The addition of our fifth author, Stephen B. Pearl, and his Tinker books, along with Hugh A. D. Spencer’s Why I Hunt Flying Saucers And Other Fantasticals and J. R. Dwornik’s Green Light to Paradise expanded the Brain Lag lineup by 67%!

In 2017, we’re working on getting out to more local events. Here is our schedule so far:

March 17-19: Toronto Comicon
April 1: Kitchener Comicon
May 5-7: Ad Astra
May 13: The Bookshelf
June 2-4: Niagara Falls Comic Con
August 17-20: Gen Con
September 24: The Word on the Street

Our event calendar will be updated as new events are added, and stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter accounts for up-to-date news on upcoming events and other author appearances.

Finally, our submission guidelines have been updated. We hope that this update clarifies what we are looking for in submissions. Also note that we are actively seeking works by or featuring women and minorities. We believe in diversity in fiction at Brain Lag, so please spread the word so we can help bring more inclusive tales to life.

We’re looking forward to another great year!

New events have been added to the event calendar for May.

Brain Lag will be in the vendors room at SuperFan ComicCon at the Better Living Centre in Exhibition Place in Toronto, May 17-19 (Victoria Day weekend). Author Catherine Fitzsimmons will also be there hosting panels on writing.

Also, ChiSeries Toronto will be hosting Hugh A. D. Spencer along with several other local authors, where you can take in a reading from Extreme Dentistry. Join him Wednesday, May 21 at 8:00 p.m. at ROUND Venue, 152a Augusta Ave. in Toronto. View the Facebook event page for full details.

Thank you to everyone who came out to see us at Faery Fest and to take in Catherine’s first readings from her upcoming novel Enduring Chaos. Our next appearance will be at The Pirate Festival right here in Milton on Civic Holiday weekend. Keep an eye on the events calendar for all our upcoming appearances.

Also, we are pleased to present the launch of Sisters of Chaos, the official website for Catherine’s upcoming trilogy. Be sure to follow the website for news and information on the series.

Finally, please don’t forget about our Indiegogo campaign.

Author Catherine Fitzsimmons’s third book Enduring Chaos, the first in an epic fantasy trilogy, is coming this fall. To promote its release, Brain Lag is producing a live action trailer for the book.

But we need your help. Please visit the Indiegogo crowdsourcing campaign to help us raise funds for location expenses, equipment, and transportation for our talented crew. Any amount you can contribute to help bring this project to life will help, and pre-release ebooks and paperbacks are available for contributions over certain amounts.

Visit the campaign page for more information and please help us make this dream a reality!

Just a few days before its official launch party and opening for submissions, Brain Lag owner Catherine Fitzsimmons has shared on her blog what made her start the company in the first place.

We hope to see you at Ad Astra in Toronto this weekend for the launch party!

We hope to see you at Ad Astra, Toronto’s original scifi/fantasy literary convention, April 5-7 at the Markham Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, where we will have a booth in the dealers room with all of our current titles.

We will also be celebrating the official opening of Brain Lag with a launch party on Saturday evening. Come join us in the penthouse, room 1401, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on April 6. We will have refreshments, goodies, free samples of each of our current titles, a prize giveaway, an advance reading of an upcoming title, and more.

Also, we will be officially opening for submissions at that time, and to celebrate, we will be hosting an open pitch session during the party. Come prepared to pitch us your novel and you could be one of the first authors to join Brain Lag’s lineup.

Hope to see you there!

Our first convention appearance is less than a month away. We will be at Con-G in Guelph, Ontario February 22-24, so come see us in the dealers hall.

Also, more information has been added to the page on freelance convention services, i.e. selling your book at our table. Particularly, a lot of information has been added on selling e-texts of your book at our events. Visit the page for more info and contact us today if you’d like to utilize our services to expand your reader base.
