Fantasy Novel With Millennia-Spanning History and Star-Crossing Villain Now Available

MILTON, ONTARIO, September 9, 2022 – Science fiction and fantasy publisher Brain Lag is proud to announce the release of Alium, the debut novel by author Grady Lynch.

This truly epic tale featuring ancient buried technology alongside celestial gods, magic, and ogres is the publisher’s longest book yet at 460 6”x9” pages. Written with lush language reminiscent of J. R. R. Tolkien that balances action and introspection expertly, Lynch has crafted a thoughtful and engaging tale of characters that range from charming to grim in an immense and highly original world.

Alium is now available to order in trade paperback (ISBN 978-1-928011-79-8, $25.99 CAD) and ebook (ISBN 978-1-928011-80-4, $4.99 USD/CAD) through bookstores everywhere, including Chapters/Indigo, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Waterstones. The publisher is hosting a livestreamed launch party with Lynch on Saturday, September 10 at 6:00 p.m. EDT on Twitch. The free event will feature an interview with the author, readings, and a Q&A with the chat. More information is available on the event page.

Lynch, an English teacher in Denver, Colorado, is a lifelong fan of fantasy and science fiction and literature in general. He originally submitted Alium as part of the February 2021 #SFFPit event on Twitter, during which aspiring authors pitched their manuscripts and publishers reached out to pitches of interest. The book was shortly signed by Brain Lag, one of four acquired as a result of the event. Lynch has been involved with various virtual conventions in 2022, sitting on panels ranging from writing epic fantasy to character dialogue.

Alium is the thirty-eighth book and Lynch is the nineteenth author from Milton, Ontario-based science fiction and fantasy publisher Brain Lag. It is the publisher’s ninth release of twelve new books in 2022.
