New Fantasy Novel About Perseverance and Hope Now Available in Bookstores Everywhere

MILTON, ONTARIO, April 8, 2022 – Blight of the Arachna by debut author D. Holden Kennon released today and is available through bookstores everywhere. The story focuses on Castor, a young man trying to save his village and prove himself a valuable member of society against famine caused by legions of monstrous spiders. This is the first installment of Kennon’s New Heroes of Kairodor series.

Once, Heroes walked this land.

Larger-than-life warriors from another world, the Heroes kept people safe. After they vanished, however, monsters ran rampant, steadily overtaking cities and making the roads impassable.

Now, the village of Toriath is slowly dying. Castor would do anything to save his family and neighbours, but as the smallest and youngest townsperson, he simply isn't strong enough to do much other than run errands.

When he hears a rumour that could mean the town's salvation, his chance has finally come to save Toriath and to prove his worth. However, it means venturing, alone, into the monster-infested wilds.

Castor may be the town's last hope—but only if he can survive the forest.

Kennon, originally of Orlando, Florida, wanted “to provide social commentary and tackle real world issues that aren’t often a focus of YA fantasy novels, such as mental health and systematic oppression, as well as give a voice to those who are underrepresented in this medium.”

As part of the celebration of the book’s release, the author and publisher will be hosting a virtual launch party on Twitch Saturday, April 9th at 6:00 p.m. EDT. The event is free for the public to attend and will feature an interview with the author, a reading, and Q&A with the chat.

Blight of the Arachna is publisher Brain Lag’s first true young adult book in over ten years. Kennon joins fifteen other authors and thirty-two other books from the publisher, and is Brain Lag’s fourth release of twelve in 2022.
